During a considerable part of my life, I always thought that even though each of us could live many lifes, we were destined to become "perfect" and that day, we would live forever in some sort of Nirvana or paradise with all our beloved ones, forever and ever, and this physical universe we live in, would serve no longer a purpose and it would somehow dissappear in a collective memory.

It is so funny how things change. I'm now more convinced than ever, that our physical universe has a much stronger and somehow central part in our existential drama (multi-life or not). I no longer consider it temporal, at least not in the temporal sense we can as humans imagine. It makes no longer sense to me to think this universe as a kind of test-ground or sand-box for us to "play", and that it would someday serve no longer a purpose or dissapear into a higher level of reality's dream. I now believe that whatever is going on when we die (or when we reach enlightment), it is still somehow connected to this universe, and we might as well never get rid of it. Even when these higher levels of reality might exist (and I certainly believe so), it makes no sense to believe this universe is not ment to be fully "explored" or "lived". I believe it will be "taken to the last consequences of it's own evolution".

Here is a little experiment to do at home. Read it through and try to do it when you have some time alone, while meditating or just before going to sleep.

Close your eyes, focus on your breath and relax; you are in for a great adventure. And the ride starts like this: try to locate that place inside of you where you feel your consciousness is located. Picture this place as a single point of light. This point of light is the very you inside of you. Focus on this point of light. There is nothing but that point of light in front of you. You enjoy looking at you as a point of light, a single white dot surrounded by nothing.

Now, start to zoom in this mental picture until the point of light is thousands of miles in diameter, so huge that suddenly you can't see anything else but this huge light in front of you. Wow, this light of yours is so powerful! After a few seconds your eyes get comfortable exploring this light. You look all around it and you notice for the first time that just in the middle of this light, there is what seems to be a little dot. It is beautiful and very familiar to you.

When you look closer and closer, you realize that this tiny dot is... is like a water drop... and... when you look closer you can't believe your eyes... the little water drop has a whole universe inside!! What? Yes! A whole universe full of galaxies and black holes and stars and planets all in perfect movement and fully functional! This is incredible; all of this inside an ultra micro water drop in the depths of your radiant light!!

Once again you start to amplify the image, and you start to immerse yourself into this universe. It starts slowly but then your movement accelerates until you get now fully inside of it. This is so beautiful, you feel the freedom to travel anywhere you want, in any direction; it is a whole universe for you to explore, but there are so many galaxies that you just can't choose a destiny. You feel timeless, matter-less, with the ability to control where to go and what to do, with no worries at all.

Soon you realize that you start to be attracted towards a very distant galaxy deep inside your universe and everything starts to move very fast, you can't stop it. You are being dragged to this place inside of you but you are not scared, you recognize the trip somehow, and you get the feeling that you've made it hundreds of times before. Finally, in what seemed like years of travel, yet only a couple of seconds, you reach what appears to be your destination: one of the most beautiful galaxies at the core of your universe. Full of colors and energy, this place leaves you with no words, it is such a pleasure to contemplate it! But your journey doesn't end here; you continue to travel into one of the sections of the galaxy. The acceleration increases and it seems like you will crash with one of the millions of stars around you. This is very exciting! And then, you start to slow down... because... there it is..., a huge and beautiful star with what appears to be a group of planets traveling through invisible circles around it. Everything stops for a while, and you have the chance to admire the beauty and majesty of this scenario.

Again your trip resumes and you set yourself in motion; it seems like you are going towards what at first sight was as a tiny dot in the middle of the space, close to the star. When you get closer you realize that this was yet another planet of the star, it was just too small for you to see it earlier. The planet is absolutely detailed and full of color; you could easily call it the most beautiful place you've ever seen. Now you understand that it is inside this planet where your final destination lies. Layer after layer of clouds pass by while you approach the surface of the planet, so full of mountains, oceans, volcanoes and rivers. It is indeed a sacred place for you, a place that you have visited in dreams, hidden inside a full size universe, in the safety of the depths of your soul, impossible for other people to reach. What a magnificent trip to your inner self. Finally, it happens. You have arrived.

It is a magnificent and peaceful green field surrounded by trees and mountains, very quiet with only nature sounds in the background. You realize that you might as well be on a long lost planet, hidden among a star among billions in this beautiful galaxy, all this time inside of you. What you do next is something you didn't expect. You happen to have a special seed in your hand, it is a seed that for some reason you know in the back of your head that will produce a very special tree, a tree that will blossom and fill the landscape with colors of red and orange.

You dig a hole and plant it. It doesn't take long for the tree to grow in front of your very own eyes. You get the chance to contemplate it and rest next to it. Feel it, the sensation of being here, with the sun shinning from far above, and the sounds of nature around you, and the shadow of your loved tree protecting you... wow. How is it that something so deep inside of you, of such a small scale in comparison to the universe around it, inside of the water drop in the middle of your huge light from your point of consciousness, is so special to you?

After a while you realize that it's time to go back, the tree will be here forever, and you will be able to visit it and rest under it any time you please. And this is only the beginning of your adventures inside your own universe.

A force from within you takes you high into the sky until it no longer has color but it appears black again full of stars all around you. At an incredible speed you leave the planet, travel away from its star, and you escape from the galaxy as well. Your trip takes forever and yet only a blink of an eye. You see billions of galaxies pass by until they all kind of get together. You can see now the whole universe in the little water drop again. And as you zoom back out, it all disappears as a little dot in the middle of your light, until is all light in front of you. Some time pass and you see how the light appears back as a single point, located in that place where you feel your consciousness is located inside your body.

The experiment has concluded. Now, what you've done is planted a special tree deep in the inner reality of your soul. This tree will continue to grow inside of you and you will be able to feel it, weirdly enough, in your heart.

Over the next days, it will be impossible for you not to feel the tree. It is as real as you are, and it represents new hope in your life, new beginnings, a new understanding of the scales around you and inside of you, a new connection with the infinite depths of your consciousness, a bridge between physical reality and the emotional realm, and a secure, close yet remote, place for you to visit while meditating, to rest or to exercise contemplation.
